The Whitby Krampus Run 2025

Who’s been a bad boy this Christmas?

While most are queuing up to meet Santa in his cosy grotto, those who prefer a little chaos with their Christmas cheer might want to head to Whitby for something altogether darker, the iconic Whitby Krampus Run.

Whitby, with its gothic history and love for the alternative, already plays host to the famous Goth and Steampunk weekends. But one of the most exciting and mischievous events of them all is this annual celebration of Santa’s horned, hooved counterpart, Krampus himself.

What began back in 2013 as a small gathering has since grown into a full-blown festival. Each December, Whitby’s cobbled streets echo with the clatter of hooves and the sound of drums as hundreds parade through the town in incredible costumes. Fire performers, musicians, and entertainers bring a raw energy that perfectly captures the spirit of this folklore favourite.

Despite its dark themes, the Whitby Krampus Run is actually a wonderfully family-friendly event. Children can make their own Krampus masks, meet the beastly characters, and soak up the lively atmosphere.

Running from 5th to 7th December 2025, the weekend is packed with live music, magical performances, drummers, lantern processions, and even a bit of spirit-summoning fun.

It’s a unique event that manages to be equal parts spooky, heart-warming, and spectacular — all while raising money for great local causes each year.

So, if you’re looking to celebrate Christmas a little differently this time, grab your horns, wrap up warm, and join the festivities. Trust us, you’ll never look at Santa’s naughty list the same way again.
