Parc Astérix Announces Major 2028 Expansion: “Londinium” and New Alterface Dark Ride

Welcome to Londinium – Asterix Heads to Britain

Big things are brewing across the Channel as Parc Astérix prepares for a massive new expansion coming in 2028. The French theme park, famous for its hilarious and chaotic take on the world of the Gauls, has announced the arrival of a brand-new themed land: Londinium which is heavily inspired by the classic comic Asterix in Britain.

This exciting new area will transport guests straight into a tongue-in-cheek version of ancient Britain, complete with the park’s trademark humour, colourful storytelling, and exaggerated cultural nods. Expect quirky British charm, immersive theming, and a dose of the comic’s trademark wordplay and wit. Designed for the whole family, Londinium promises to blend visual spectacle with pure fun — offering a new corner of the park filled with adventure, laughs, and clever tributes to the beloved Asterix universe.

Parc Astérix New Dark Ride by Alterface – Chaos, Comedy, and Competition

At the heart of this new land will be a brand-new interactive dark ride, created in partnership with Belgian company Alterface, known worldwide for pushing the boundaries of interactive attractions. The ride will invite guests to pick up their “magic potion gourds” and join Asterix and friends in a series of playful, carnival-style challenges. With six interactive scenes filled with colour, humour, and chaos, riders will compete for points as they take part in light-hearted games of skill and reflex, all while soaking in a joyous mash-up of Gaulish mischief and British eccentricity.

Guests can expect an experience that grows in intensity and challenge as the ride unfolds. It will begin gently, allowing everyone to get comfortable with the controls, before stepping up the pace with increasingly skill-based and reflex-driven scenes. Each section builds on the last, keeping riders engaged and on edge right until the finale.

Adding to the fun is a dynamic scoring system that rewards both precision and curiosity. Visible leaderboards, secret bonuses, and hidden layers within each scene ensure there’s always something new to discover. With every ride offering the chance to climb higher on the scoreboard or uncover fresh surprises, repeat visits are all but guaranteed.

An Exciting Collaboration

Alterface’s creative director, Laurence Beckers, described the collaboration as a dream come true, saying:

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Parc Astérix on such an iconic IP. You have to realize that in Belgium, the comic book universe is a cultural institution. It is part of our heritage. We fell into it when we were little, just as Obélix fell into the cauldron of potion. Working for this license is an incredible opportunity for us!”

Fans of interactive attractions will already know Alterface’s impressive portfolio including Maus au Chocolat at Germany’s Phantasialand and Popcorn Revenge at Walibi Belgium, both widely praised for their fluid gameplay, innovative tech, and replay value. The upcoming Parc Astérix ride looks set to follow in their footsteps, combining intuitive interactivity, high capacity, and an irresistibly fun spirit.

With Londinium and its brand-new Alterface dark ride, Parc Astérix is once again proving why it’s one of Europe’s most creative and character-filled theme parks promising a 2028 expansion packed with laughter, charm, and a true splash of magic potion.
