Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach Resort has marked a special moment in the construction of its brand new ride. Aviktas, which is set to open in 2026, has had a time capsule planted within its foundations.
We were at the park today as the capsule was sealed and lowered into place. Filled with fan letters, memorabilia, and plans for Aviktas. It’s the latest in what has already been a standout year for Pleasure Beach, who seem to have embraced a “fan first” approach. They have already broadcast fan messages into space earlier this year, and are now giving guests the chance to literally leave their mark on the resort’s future.
The thought that someone 30, 50, or even 100 years from now might one day unearth and read our letter (visible in the official image shared by the park) is an incredible feeling. It’s a rare opportunity to leave behind a true sense of legacy at what is, for us, the UK’s most iconic amusement park.

In Pleasure Beach’s official press release, one particularly touching story stood out. A letter was included from Hayley and Martin, who first met while working at the park. They met as ride operators and later sealed their love by marrying in 2024. Their message read:
“Me and Martin met on the Ice Blast ride and have been happily married since 9th November 2024.”
Amanda Thompson OBE Says..
Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, added her thoughts on the occasion:
“Aviktas is more than just a ride – it’s a snapshot of the amusement and theme park industry in the present day. By sealing a time capsule with the headlines, music and memories of today, we’re making sure that future generations can look back and see the fun, the challenges, and the spirit of the UK in this moment of time. Just like our rides, it’s all about creating experiences that stand the test of time.”

By inviting fans like us, to take part in this way, Pleasure Beach has created something that goes beyond a ride. It’s a chance for guests to become part of the park’s story, building memories that are guaranteed to last a lifetime.
